1910s Four Piece Ensemble
Based on a design inspired by fashion plates from the 1910s and costume design by Bob Buck, Ann Maskrey, and Richard Taylor
This project was completed over the course of a month. It was inspired by the costume designs done by Bob Buck, Ann Maskrey, and Richard Taylor for “The Hobbit” trilogy and by fashion advertisements and illustrations from 1914-1916. The jacket was made from two yards of wool crepe with cotton velveteen lapels, cuffs, and facings. The vest was one yard of a green silk brocade. The blouse was made from two yards of linen check. The skirt was made from three yards of silk noil with a boned interior belt.
This project was done as a personal celebration for the 85th publication anniversary of The Hobbit. There is a journal entry up about the research and design process for this ensemble!
