The Emily Gown was created as an homage to the things that get lost or burned when an invading force moves in - books, knowledge, precious items, the lifeblood and cultures and families. The base of this gown is a boned cotton coutil bodice, as was done similarly in the Victorian era, with cotton yarn appliqué meant to mimic blood vessels. It is then overlaid with the softest linen voile that has been hand-painted in order to look burned. This is an incredibly special piece.
